Fabrizio Romano via Twitter, has given an important update regarding Leeds United’s transfer activity.

He posted ‘Leeds have not submitted any bid for Ismaila Sarr and Juan Mata as things stand – while they are following Willy Gnonto as potential future talent since long time.’

Numerous reports had stated Leeds had been in talks with Juan Mata in an attempt to bring the experienced midfielder to Elland Road. It now seems, according to Fabrizio Romano that the reports are untrue. Also, unconfirmed reports had suggested The Whites had submitted a bid for Watford forward Ismaila Sarr, again these reports have been denied by Romano.

However, reports of a rumoured interest in highly rated young forward Willy Gnonto have been confirmed, as Leeds have shown admiration for the Italian for a long time. The product of Inter Milan, now playing in the Super Swiss club Zürich. He made his professional debut with Zürich as a substitute in a 4–1 win over FC Vaduz on 24 October 2020, and he assisted his team’s final goal. He scored his first professional goal on 21 May 2021, once again in a 4–1 league home win over FC Vaduz. In the 2020/21 campaign, he won the league title. Gnonto has represented Italy at all youth levels and has 4 senior appearances, scoring once.

It is no secret Leeds are in the market for a striker and could make an official offer for the 18-year-old before the transfer window shuts on 1st September.
