A welcome change from league action however I’m sure the team would rather this be a league match after the joys of returning to winning ways against Coventry. However this will be a tough challenge, West Brom didn’t lose much of the squad through relegation and currently lie 5th in the division.

Vital Quotes:

Leeds boss Dennis Wise would welcome a bit of a trip through the FA Cup stages. Wise himself is no stranger to the tournament having appeared in the final 5 times, including taking Millwall all the way to the final when they were in the Championship:

‘I was fortunate enough to have that experience and the competition does mean a lot to me, ‘ he said.

‘The competition is important to the club, to me, to the players and it would be great to get a result against West Brom.’

WBA boss Tony Mowbary is wary of the newly strengthened team, and highlights a certain striker signing as one of the major problems.

He told the Baggies official site: ‘…But Tore Andre Flo has joined them and I’m sure one or two others will come in to help them negotiate difficult waters.

‘My reports suggest they are a decent football team with some decent players and we’ve got to try and be at our best to get into the next round.’

West Bromwich Albion Team News:

Our crazy transfer activity aside, Albion new-boy Robert Koren has been given international clearance for his free transfer and could take up a place on the bench. Some good news for us is that defender Martin Albrechtsen has a groin injury and won’t be playing. Nigel Quashie is suspended.

Player to watch: Zoltan Gera

There are still Premiership teams sniffing around the Hungarian international. Always a dangerous threat to any side and our defence will have to be on top form to keep him quiet.

Leeds Team News:

Tresor Kandol, recently signed on a long-term deal is cup-tied…thanks Barnet!

The good news is however that Tore Andre Flo will be available and may line up alongside Healy, who against Coventry seemed to remember where the goal was. Armando Sa may also be available but like Albion’s Koren, this is subject to international clearance. Gary Kelly, well still crocked!

It had to be really, didn’t it!

Match Facts & Stats

Leeds have been knocked out in the 3rd round 4 times in the last 5 years.

Oops, not a good sign!

Ref Watch:

I know who it is for a change!

Nigel Miller from Co.Durham.

In his last two games he has officiated League Two matches. Must have forgotten Christmas and is trying to make up for it with belated cards having dished out 3 Reds and 6 yellows.

Match Prediction:

I’m not sure to be honest. New players galore but I will keep the faith with my predictions. 1-0 Leeds.

Next Fixtures:

Another trip to Birmingham next Saturday, followed by the Baggies in the league on the 20th.
