Ex-Leeds boss who failed miserably expects Bielsa to follow thanks to club’s major flaw

|

When Neil Warnock was in charge at Elland Road, he failed miserably and was left embarrassed when we were mauled by Nottingham Forest.

The current Cardiff boss, though, expects Marcelo Bielsa to feel the same at the end of the season, to some extent, as the 70-year-old has given his promotion predictions to TalkSPORT and it does not make for pleasant reading in West Yorkshire.

That’s because it is not us he expects to go up via the automatic places, but rather Norwich and Sheffield United, after the Blades pushed us into the Play-Off picture at the weekend with their narrow win.

When he was speaking on Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, his comments started so well yet ended so poorly, as he described what he considers to be our one killer weakness.

“Leeds, what a club,” Warnock said. “They fill the stadium every game whatever division they’re in and they’re just so desperate to get back into the Premier League.

“He’s done a good job, Bielsa, but I think Leeds will miss out. I just think Leeds have got a soft belly at times at the back when they’re under pressure, in comparison with the other two.

“I think Sheffield United will be very, very difficult to push out of that top two. Chris Wilder has built a good side, they were one of the best teams we played last year and he’s got a way of playing that’s very difficult to play against.

“I think Norwich and Sheffield United are the favourites.”

No matter how the season ends, Bielsa has done a far better job at Elland Road than Warnock had before he was sacked with the club at risk of relegation to League One.
