Simon Grayson has praised Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa and believes the Argentinian will stick to his attacking principles if the Whites are promoted.

The Yorkshire side have enjoyed a brilliant season so far and they currently lead the way in the Championship, holding a seven-point cushion over third-placed Fulham in the race for automatic promotion. Therefore, fans are already dreaming of a return to the Premier League and there will be a belief that Bielsa’s men can thrive against the elite.

And, speaking to the Daily Star, Grayson revealed he shares those views and he even suggested that Leeds could be able to emulate rivals Sheffield United who are currently seventh in the Premier League.

Will Leeds United be playing in the Premier League next season?

Yes

No

Sometimes teams go into the Premier League and are too negative with the sole purpose of surviving. But if you take on teams and attack – like Wilder has done – then it can be successful.

That’s the way I think Bielsa would go, especially with some quality players that he’d ideally like to bring in. Every manager up and down the country will be looking at them and how they play.”

Bielsa’s reputation in the game is already cemented with Mauricio Pochettino and Diego Simeone just two of the high-profile managers that have praised the 64-year-old, whilst Pep Guardiola has previously declared that the Leeds chief is the best in the world. However, if he does take Leeds back to the Premier League it will be his first taste of top-level football in England, although he does have experience in La Liga and at the World Cup.

It’s not clear when the season will resume for Leeds but it has been suggested they may go up without having to kick another ball as points per game could be applied to settle the Championship.
