With Leeds United flying high in the Championship in the season of 2018/19 following the arrival of manager Marcelo Bielsa, plenty of fans have high hopes for the future under his charge and the target as we edge through December remains promotion back to the Premier League.
The other day a particular line of thought caught my eye on social media and I can only assume it was hugely tongue in cheek. Having helped to relegate Stoke City, Mark Hughes played his part in saving Southampton from the drop but he was recently canned by the club as after 14 games they continue to struggle to score, have no problems conceding and have only gained nine points so they sit in the relegation zone.
How that reality fits with ideas of Hughes now becoming Bielsa’s right-hand man do escape me but clearly it was in jest.
Mark Hughes now available. Interesting. Could be an excellent right hand man for Bielsa. Has experience in English football. Surely worth a punt? #lufc

I get the experience angle and his overall knowledge of the English game, but Bielsa isn’t doing too bad with his current staff and I’m not sure fans would really welcome going ten at the back at points.
Can’t Bielsa make his own tea?

Why the hell do we want him here!

Doubt they’d work together well unless Hughes knows Spanish. Plus bielsa’s assistants are great anyways as they called some great decisions previous game.
