Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media to a shocking claim directed at the Whites from Tim Krul following Norwich City’s win at Elland Road on Saturday.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper has been quoted by numerous outlets following the game, claiming that Leeds did not deserve to win at Carrow Road earlier in the season, and that the Whites are “not Barcelona”.
It’s not clear where Krul or Norwich boss Daniel Farke drew up the comparison between Marcelo Bielsa’s style of play and that of the La Liga outfit, but the former Newcastle ace took particular frustration with the idea judging by his comments.
“In the home game we literally played them off the park for 30 minutes and conceded soft goals,” he said.
“The manager made clear: respect them, be humble, but hit them because they are not Barcelona.”
The strange accusation that Leeds United are Barcelona got the attention of many Whites fans, with a fair few quick to point out the blatant lunacy of the idea…
