Scunthorpe United boss Nigel Adkins admitted he was disappointed that his side was unable to take all 3 points having taken the lead against Leeds United at Elland Road on Saturday.

Gary Hooper had put his side ahead, before an almost-instant reply from new Leeds signing Enoch Showunmi restored parity, before Jermaine Beckford popped up 10 mintues from time to snatch all 3 points for The Whites.

“We’re disappointed that with the effort we have put into the game we have not taken any points from it,” Adkins told the official Scunthorpe Website.

“Credit to Leeds, they’ve upped the tempo in the last half hour of the game and Josh Lillis has had to pull off some fantastic saves.

“We’re disappointed with the first goal we conceded because we didn’t expect to concede like that.

“And the second goal was back off the crossbar and into the path of one of their players to score.”
