It was a disappointing start to the New Year for Leeds United as we lost out 4-2 to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Tuesday afternoon.

With a small wobble in form of late again, one thing that can’t be questioned is the effort the players are putting in for manager Marcelo Bielsa, as despite finding ourselves behind early on in this one, we did battle back to take the lead despite being down to ten men after Kalvin Phillips saw a straight red card.

Unfortunately, despite having the chances to extend our lead, as tiredness kicked in, Forest took advantage of that to take the win – but we kept fighting until the final minute earning a lot of praise along the way.

Statistics website Whoscored’s player ratings don’t match our efforts on the day but Pontus Jansson did walk out with Man of the Match with a score of 7.99.

Completing the top five were Ezgjan Alioski (7.41), Jack Clarke (7.32), Mats Klich (6.84) and Kemar Roofe (6.62).

Rest and recovery and go again as we remain at the top of the table and we can only show further improvements as players return to fitness.
