One of the stronger rumours, when it came to Leeds United, and the summer transfer rumour mill was our apparent interest in impressive and soon to be out of contract Brentford defender Yoann Barbet.
Leeds Linked With Impressive 26 y/o Defender Available For Free
The 26-year-old was available on a free transfer following the natural expiry of his contract this month and Leeds joined the likes of Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers as being linked with strongly tracking his services.
I can only assume we had no interest in him as earlier this week he signed a deal with Queens Park Rangers, penning a three year deal in the process.
Now despite money being tight at Elland Road, there’s no way QPR could’ve offered more than we did, hence my assumption – like most reports at this time of year – the media claims were utterly baseless.
Barbet for me, especially as a free, ticked a number of boxes from what I remember seeing of him and his versatility would’ve been an advantage as well, but I guess it pays to be naturally cynical these days in the window.
