It’s not exactly football related but earlier this week Leeds United found themselves subject to some bizarre reports about the Pope.
Basically, Leeds chairman Andrea Radrizzani made the decision to give Pope Francis the gift of a shirt from the club when he met him.
Emotional and unique moment to meet his holiness @pontifex and donate an @lufc jersey… ๐๐๐โฝ we have one special supporter pic.twitter.com/Z4hpbEXiGD

I’m not sure it’s that unique – it is for Leeds mind you – but I guess it’s served the purpose of brightening up a few days of a boring international window. The shirt was signed and had ‘Francesco’ printed above the No 1 number.
Reaction to the news on social media was mixed and whilst there were a number of fans who were delighted with the public relations element the story brought the club, many were simply baffled by the development. Having seen a chimp feature in a French music video whilst wearing this season’s shirt earlier in the summer, it’s certainly going to take something inventive to top this one now.
????????????????????????????
I even know the tune to this one. Quality tweet, Sir! ????

His Holiness signed a Mayo jersey during his recent visit to Ireland. Their manager resigned the following day. Here's hoping that lightning doesn't strike twice.
