One thing that really caught my eye at the weekend – aside from our win – was the performance of the players for Barnsley.
An odd thing to say in isolation, of course, when you consider the gulf in size between our two clubs but when Hecky arrived soon after came the rumours we’d be looking at some of their players.
With that said, then, I thought I’d keep an extra lookout for the likes of Oli McBurnie and Andy Yiadom and, to be honest, I wasn’t that impressed.
Indeed, with Joe Urquhart also providing a scouting update for the Yorkshire Evening Post, it looks as though many connected with our club weren’t exactly enamoured by the Tykes’ pair:

Let’s look at the reaction to them on social media:
Got 3 good right backs Ayling Coyle & Hosannah McBurnie might be ok but not as main man we need better than him if we want to challenge top 6

Just remember last summer- there was such hope in our voices, now we’re supposed to be excited about signing players from Barnsley

The Verdict
McBurnie especially has done well in recent weeks but I thought he offered perhaps not as much as we were expecting from him.
He grabbed an offside goal but apart from that he wasn’t that special whilst Luke Ayling – when back fit – has nothing to worry about with Yiadom on the right of defence.
Thoughts, Whites? Let me know!
