The English Football League will discuss the potential ramifications of ‘Spygate’ at a board meeting on Thursday, The Telegraph is reporting.
It is claimed that eleven fellow Championship sides have written to the EFL to demand the governing body of England’s second-tier thoroughly examine the events that occurred when a member of Leeds’ staff was found observing a training session at Derby County’s complex last month.
Marcelo Bielsa’s later admittance that he had sent members of his team to oversee every one of their opponents at some stage of the season saw the Argentine receive huge backlash from members of the footballing world.
Many of the Championship sides who wrote to the EFL are understood, according to The Telegraph, to be asking for a points deduction as well as a hefty fine, which could see Leeds drop out of the automatic promotion places.
Two wins in their last six games has already seen Leeds lose top spot to Norwich City, who secured all three points at Elland Road last Saturday.
Bielsa himself is also said to be under investigation by the Football Association, although the former Argentina boss has stated that he has not done anything illegal.
There is also no precedent for such a situation, meaning there is no clear punishment at this stage and history will be made no matter the outcome of the hearing.
