‘Could be very dangerous’ – Many Leeds fans discuss potential new position for £5.4m-rated ace

Patrick Bamford fired a brace in Saturday’s win over Wigan Athletic, but is it time for Marcelo Bielsa to try something new with Leeds United’s leading Championship goalscorer?

Many Whites supporters have been discussing a potential change Bielsa could look into lately, with fans debating whether the boss could drop Bamford into midfield, similar to how he moved Kemar Roofe out of the solo striker role last term.

Doing so this season would allow Arsenal loanee Eddie Nketiah to earn a starting berth in the United first-team, having been left on the bench in the win over Wigan at the weekend after scoring in his debut against Salford City in the Carabao Cup.

Bamford’s goals against the Latics were hardly the results of sheer ability, either, with the £5.4million-rated hitman presented with a sitter from a few yards out to open the scoring, before bundling the ball over the line in the second half to record his third of the campaign.

The Grantham-born attacker has improved his work off the ball compared to his inaugural campaign at Elland Road, though, while his link-up play behind the striker could see the £35,000-a-week ace attack the space opened up by Nketiah and find the pockets to capitalise on any cutbacks.

All the while, Nketiah’s movement and runs beyond the final defender would stretch the opposition’s ranks, and offer players like Pablo Hernandez and Jack Harrison with an option to pick out with balls in behind.

Should Bielsa already be looking to make changes to his set-up, though? Here’s what these Leeds fans suggested when u/GoldenCorrado raised the idea on Reddit
