Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw has confirmed that he is on his way back to full fitness now but acknowledged he faces a fight to win his spot back given the way the first team are performing at this moment in time.
Speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post the 26-year-old confirmed that he had been back out on the training pitch earlier this week (Tuesday) and he was hopeful of putting himself in a position to maybe challenge for a spot on the bench when football returns and we face Millwall in our next Championship clash.
With him being ahead of schedule, having impressed manager Marcelo Bielsa in pre-season before he suffered the blow, he praised Mats Klich for how he’s taken his chance and he appreciates he’ll have to be patient as he’s not expecting to walk straight back into the team.
“It would be very difficult. He’s been unbelievable and fair play to him. It’s an example to young players and anybody, really. You get a chance and you take it. He’ll be the first one to say that he probably wasn’t going to play at the start of the season but he’s took his chance with both hands. Ultimately it only increases the standard of the whole squad. Don’t get me wrong, I want to play every week but if I’m sat there waiting in the wings it can only be a good thing for the team.”

Last year Adam Forshaw looked one of our best players. Mr Bielsa has given the impression that he rates Forshaw, so can only be good for us if we get him back soon. Rest of midfield have done a great job so far though. #lufc #MOT

As the above comments imply, it will only help strengthen competition and the options available to Bielsa as we look to continue our impressive start to the 2018/19 campaign so it has to be considered a bonus at this stage, especially coming back as early as he has done and although the September international break was a disruption given our form, it could be incredibly well-timed for Forshaw on a personal level.
