“Combative & Dangerous” – Bielsa Has Praise For This Leeds Star After Full Debut

|

When Leeds United confirmed the arrival of former Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa over the summer, it was exactly what plenty of fans had wanted to hear after the disappointments of 2018/19.

It continued to be a mixed summer at Elland Road given all the departures we saw, but plenty continue to expect big things from the 25-year-old and he’s now adjusting to life back in the Championship and learning what manager Marcelo Bielsa wants from him.

After two substitute appearances in the second tier, the EFL Cup first round clash with Salford City in midweek was the Portuguese’s full debut, and we took a pretty comfortable 3-0 victory following goals from Eddie Nketiah, Gaetano Berardi and Mats Klich.

Costa himself came in for good praise following his performance and involvement in the goals, and speaking to the media this week as we now prepare for the next clash, our Argentine gaffer was pleased with what he saw.

Plenty of fans reacted with the expected ‘start him then’ as we go into the Wigan clash, but I think him and Nketiah could be an interesting introduction around the hour mark to capitalise on any tiredness.
