‘Cheap mans Alioski’ – Loads of Leeds fans react to latest Elland Road transfer rumour

Loads of Leeds supporters have been reacting on social media after Phil Hay shared that Jack Clarke was in London on Wednesday to hold a medical with Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Yorkshire Evening Post reporter added that Spurs and the Whites have reached an agreement on a deal, that will see the North London outfit pay an upfront fee of around £10million, whilst the agreement features various add-ons and a sell-on clause.

United also have first refusal on taking Clarke on loan should Mauricio Pochettino deem the teenager in need of game time at any stage. Although it was not eluded that Marcelo Bielsa or Victor Orta would be excessing that option anytime soon.

Tottenham have been ramping up their efforts to sign Clarke over the last few weeks, after the Premier League high-flyers saw their initial £10million offer rejected in May.

Pochettino’s side were thought to have presented Clarke’s camp with an attractive proposition earlier this month, with the 18-year-old winger offered a substantial pay rise, as well as lucrative bonuses and a signing on fee.

The Sun then reported that an £8.5million deal had been agreed, with the total fee potentially rising to £13million, which frustrated former Leeds defender Danny Mills, who feels Clarke could be worth as much as £30million in a years time.

“At the level of £8million, I think Leeds should keep him,” he told Football Insider. “You can’t really reinvest that amount significantly to strengthen your squad.

“Leeds would be better off keeping a player who would play 25 to 30 games next season, may help them get promotion and, if he does well, he could be worth £25m to £30million in a year’s time.”

It appears, though, that Clarke will be off to North London less than nine months after making his Leeds first-team breakthrough, and fans have been having their say on Hay’s latest information…
