Loads of Leeds supporters have been reacting on social media after Phil Hay shared that Jack Clarke was in London on Wednesday to hold a medical with Tottenham Hotspur.
The former Yorkshire Evening Post reporter added that Spurs and the Whites have reached an agreement on a deal, that will see the North London outfit pay an upfront fee of around £10million, whilst the agreement features various add-ons and a sell-on clause.
United also have first refusal on taking Clarke on loan should Mauricio Pochettino deem the teenager in need of game time at any stage. Although it was not eluded that Marcelo Bielsa or Victor Orta would be excessing that option anytime soon.
Tottenham have been ramping up their efforts to sign Clarke over the last few weeks, after the Premier League high-flyers saw their initial £10million offer rejected in May.
Pochettino’s side were thought to have presented Clarke’s camp with an attractive proposition earlier this month, with the 18-year-old winger offered a substantial pay rise, as well as lucrative bonuses and a signing on fee.
The Sun then reported that an £8.5million deal had been agreed, with the total fee potentially rising to £13million, which frustrated former Leeds defender Danny Mills, who feels Clarke could be worth as much as £30million in a years time.
“At the level of £8million, I think Leeds should keep him,” he told Football Insider. “You can’t really reinvest that amount significantly to strengthen your squad.
“Leeds would be better off keeping a player who would play 25 to 30 games next season, may help them get promotion and, if he does well, he could be worth £25m to £30million in a year’s time.”
It appears, though, that Clarke will be off to North London less than nine months after making his Leeds first-team breakthrough, and fans have been having their say on Hay’s latest information…
It’s not the fact that Clarke is going it’s just so frustrating that every year we have to sell one of our future players to buy

When Clarke is starting for spurs in 18 months this 8.5mill will seem like pocket change, especially when we we will still be over reliant on loan players, trying to escape this league on a shoe string budget compared to other smaller clubs

Anybody who watched a lot of games last season knows he’s a 1 trick pony. Offered very little after Boro, was well figured out. Good player but I’d be more worried about losing Shacks and if it means we can get some quality in than sound. Needs to be reinvested though.

Ian Harte rubbing his hands together, he’s 100% forced this move

If this means we keep Shack and Phillips it’s 100% worth it.

Rather have helder costa or Ryan Kent over Clarke any day if the week great business

Am I the only one who isn’t too upset about this? If we reinvest the money to improve the first team, Costa/Freeman I think we will be in a much stronger position

As long as the fee is around 10 or more, I can live with this. Top young talent but not the player who is going to fire us to the PL next season.
