As has become the norm, clubs can’t do anything these days without making it some sort of pageantry.
If you look at Manchester United when they announced Alexis Sanchez, or Antonio Rudiger when he signed for Chelsea, everything needs to be seen as better and more extravagant than the last. That sentiment doesn’t just restrict itself to transfer dealings either, as Leeds United have proved with the release of their new home shirt, although given the occasion, I don’t think you can blame them.
This year, Leeds celebrate their 100th anniversary and along with the kit commemorating the occasion, produced a short video documenting Leeds’ history over the past 100 years. More than that though, it described just what it’s like to be a fan at Elland Road and beyond.
Having watched the teary-eyed production, and presumably after they’d got rid of their goosebumps, fans took to Twitter to congratulate the club on doing such a fantastic job, not only with the kit but also with the tribute video.
Whilst most of the attention was on the home shirt, it appears as though the star of the show came later when they revealed the new goalkeeper shirt alongside the home white one, with some even predicting that it could be the most popular shirt in the club shop this season.
Love it, everything, love it
