Speculation has mounted continuously over the past few days that Leeds United are set to sign Wolves forward Jay Bothroyd.

Vital Wolves first broke the story, and indeed the quote from Gary McAllister regarding the 26-year-old, who has well and had the hints from Wanderer`s boss that he is no longer required at the Black Country Club.

Bothroyd was transfer listed earlier last season following a reasonably poor spell at now Premier League side Stoke City (4 games, 0 goals) and it`s believed that Leeds may well be one of the potential suitors for the former Arsenal youth team player. Speaking to the Express & Star when quizzed, McAllister said:

‘I don’t want to show our cards too much, but we have agreed terms with a club for another player, it`s not completed and I’d rather wait before I say who it is.’

Rumours have increased since the announcement of the Wolverhampton Wanderers Scottish Tour squad, in which Bothroyd, alongside team-mate Stephen Elliott were omitted, instead being selected for the reserve team match at the mighty Chasetown on Friday evening.

Wikipedia is suggesting a fee of £300,000 for the forward, which in my opinion, is too much for a man who doesn`t seem that keen on goalscoring.
