Black Day For Kevin

Kevin Blackwell lost his 100th and possibly last game in charge of Leeds United at Coventry on Saturday.

Stern John scored the only goal of the game as Leeds continued the bad run of form which has seen them sink to second bottom in the Championship table.

Rumours were circulating in the press that after disappointing results at home to Wolves and Sunderland, Blackwell simply had to win against Coventry or he would be shown the door.

It remains to be seen whether or not his task when he arrives at Elland Road on Monday will be to prepare the team for Barnet or to empty his desk.

It was another typically poor display from Leeds. They started with a 4-3-3 formation but again lack cutting edge up front. Healy rattled the bar early on but Coventry were soon on top and it was no surprise when a low cross was converted by Stern John.

Leeds didn’t show much signs of battling back into the game but at half-time they switched to a 4-4-2 formation and the ineffective Gregan was replaced by Douglas.

Healy playing as a more out and out striker began to get more involved and linked up well with Horsfield in attack but a couple of headers from Horsfield was the closest the game to equalising.
