Maybe that’s a harsh description of Fernando Llorente given he’s battling for the solitary spot up front when England striker Harry Kane is clearly the automatic starter at Tottenham Hotspur, but Leeds United have been linked with a January move for him this week.
I can sort of see the sense in manager Marcelo Bielsa maybe targeting the 33-year-old from the big man up top theory in football, but I’m not overly convinced this rumour is in any way true given we expect Patrick Bamford back to full fitness shortly and many fans would argue strengthening in other areas of the pitch would maybe suit our promotion hopes in 2018/19 better.
Llorente does have a decent goalscoring record across his career though, and only at Spurs has it really fallen down and the suggestion from the Sun is that he’d be available for around the £4million mark which could be an excellent piece of business.
I’m sceptical even with him playing under Bielsa before as above anything else his wages would no doubt be an issue.
Fernando Llorente, you say? Exactly the type of player we need. Unlikely due to wages but it's not uncommon that teams would fund some of the expenses. He'd rip this league and played under Bielsa before. #LUFC

Pure clickbaiting from The Sun. Bielsa trusts Roofe and Bamford's barely had a chance to impress. No reason whatsoever for us to pursue this.

Fernando Llorente and Ibai Gomez ???? yeah okay lads…. only way we get those 2 is a free signing in the summer when their contracts end AND if we go up and can pay Premier League wages!! #LUFC

If Bielsa really wants Llorente then you better believe the club will get him.
