Leeds Word On The Tweet

“Should have been done 6 months ago” – Lots of Leeds fans react to update on striker chase

|

Lots of Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media to reports by the Yorkshire Evening Post, which claimed we are still ‘very active’ in our hunt for a new striker.

The club are prepared to fork out for a loan fee and agree to a sizable obligation-to-buy clause if the right centre-forward becomes available, having seen Arsenal recall Eddie Nketiah.

Southampton’s Che Adams remains a target for Director of Football Victor Orta and head coach Marcelo Bielsa, and the Leicester-born attacker will remain on the table at Elland Road until such a time as the Saints present an absolute rejection to striking a deal.

It has previously been noted that the south coast side would be open to accepting a £1million loan fee with a £10m obligation to buy in the summer, though first-team boss Ralph Hasenhuttl is reticent to lose his club’s £15m signing.

Will we sign a striker this month?

Yes

No

United are expected to remain attentive to Adams’ situation at St. Mary’s until Southampton offer a firm rejection, or we become in advanced talks with another option that it leaves the club with no choice but to walk away from the former Birmingham City star.

There is a great expectation that a striker will arrive in West Yorkshire this month to partner Patrick Bamford, though one of the greatest hurdles is the club identifying someone whom Bielsa will be happy with.

In other Leeds United news, the club are reportedly now the ‘likely destination’ for a 15-cap forward.
