Having spent plenty of his career managing in Argentina both at club and country level, Marcelo Bielsa knows a thing or two about fans turning.
Indeed, in the South American country there are often stories of violence and players and managers getting serious abuse when fans turn and even El Loco has suffered from that.
Perhaps, then, when he was reflecting on cabbage-gate at Aston Villa earlier this week, he offered a response that differs to many.
As per Phil Hay, Bielsa has said that the cabbage – whilst obviously bad – pales into insignificance when he’s had to deal with bottles and being spat at:

Certainly, he’s had his fair share of scrapes in his time and he’d probably have welcomed a cabbage over someone spitting at him – let’s be honest.
He’s had to fight at times for his career and such traits are clear here and in the way he’s gone about his business as a coach.
