Leeds take on Aston Villa this weekend in a huge game in terms of taking confidence into the play-offs.
It’s more than likely that Sheffield United are going to beat Ipswich Town this weekend and end our hopes of the top two so instead, we need to go into the play-offs in good form.
Beating Villa would be a good way of doing that, then, and Marcelo Bielsa is bound to have done his research on the Villans.
We know how in-depth he gets with analysis and, actually, it appears to have rubbed off on some other managers in the EFL.
Indeed, speaking to Sky Sports’ EFL Matters show, Lincoln City manager Danny Cowley revealed that he has ended up adopting some of Bielsa’s approaches:
“We found the [Spygate] press conference after, when he talked about his analysis work and we actually nicked a few of his ideas on the back of that. You’re always open-minded [as a manager] and looking to learn.”
Bielsa is a man that many managers look up to without doubt and this is another example of that.
Let’s just hope Dean Smith hasn’t done the same…
