Bielsa Content As Leeds Return To Top Spot With Steady Brentford Win

|

Leeds United welcomed Brentford and the Magic Hat back to Elland Road for Wednesday evening’s Championship clash.

The game was an opportunity for manager Marcelo Bielsa to extend his unbeaten run in the 2019/20 campaign and with all three points on the night, we could expect to return to the top of the table.

We did just that with the pack thinning slightly as we took a 1-0 victory thanks to second half substitute Eddie Nketiah making it two in two following his arrival from Arsenal. It was again nothing more than we deserved, even if it was predictably a long time coming. But Patrick Bamford and Nketiah are up and running, and we have attacking options to change a game this season, and we saw that to good effect.

Long may it continue.

Speaking to the BBC following the full time whistle, our Argentine gaffer said of the display.

“We deserved to win the game because we dominated the game. We didn’t create a lot of chances but we created enough chances to make a difference. It was a physical, demanding game and we took control in the best moment of the game. Helder Costa is a balanced player who can play on both sides, and Eddie Nketiah can make an impact in the middle. We defended well and our opponents did not have enough clear chances.”
