Bielsa Confirms Potential Double Leeds Blow Ahead Of Derby Clash – One Will Play In A “Wheelchair If You Want”

|

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has been diligently preparing for this weekend’s first leg Play-Off Semi-Final clash at Pride Park with Derby County, but speaking to the media in his pre-game press conference he ruled one player out and confirmed that we had another key doubt.

Quoted by Derbyshire Live, Bielsa revealed that attacker Tyler Roberts would not be fit for Saturday’s action, and centre-half Pontus Jansson would need to be assessed late on as he is a doubt.

Roberts will be a miss of his own given his improvement this season under the Argentine coach but at least on an attacking front we have alternative options. The form of Jansson, if he does miss out, will be a massive loss but we can probably expect to see Gaetano Berardi fill in if necessary.

Bielsa also confirmed that Stuart Dallas would start the game given our other absentees, and obviously Patrick Bamford isn’t an option following his suspension.

“Stuart Dallas will play, Tyler Roberts will not. There is doubts with Jansson, there’s problems with the ankle.”

Our Swedish legend was also at the press conference, and he said of his own fitness.

“I don’t know what’s said but it’s a long season, I have pain everywhere. It’s not a big thing but it’s a little bit more today. But I’ll play in a wheelchair if you want.”
