Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has given an injury update in his usual pre-game press conference as we continue our preparations for Wednesday evening’s clash with Brentford – and the likely first return for the Magic Hat.

Having admitted that there were significant doubts over Liam Cooper, Barry Douglas and Ezgjan Alioski, many fans will take heart in the fact that Bielsa refused to absolutely rule them out, but fans will worry about the development given how we all know injuries helped last season’s disappointments.
I’m not seeing any talk about what the injury concerns are for them, and Alioski did get 45 minutes under his belt in our recent Under 23 clash and I didn’t see any comments about an injury there either. It does seem it’s more a freshness issue though, as Phil Hay states they are fit enough to play, but not necessarily “100%”.
Bielsa did confirm that should they be ruled out, Jamie Shackleton would likely take right back, with Stuart Dallas moving to left back and then presumably Gaetano Berardi would be in the middle.
