Bielsa calls for 5 ft 7 Whites ace to show his skills ahead of expected senior Leeds debut

Marcelo Bielsa has called for Mateusz Bogusz to show his skills with the senior side ahead of his expected competitive Leeds debut in the EFL Cup, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The boss discussed how impressed he has been in the 5 ft 7 Whites youngster in his pre-match press conference ahead of Tuesday night’s tie away to Salford City, in which he suggested Bogusz and Eddie Nketiah could make their United debuts.

Bogusz featured regularly in the club’s pre-season schedule, but was an unused substitute in the Championship curtain-raiser against Bristol City, and remained on the bench at Elland Road in the one-all draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Nketiah, on the other hand, was not listed in the squad to face Sabri Lamouchi’s City Ground natives following his Deadline Day loan move from Arsenal, but Bielsa has stated that he will play a role against Salford having trained with Leeds for the first time on Sunday.

“He had some tests last week. Yesterday he trained, the same today. I’m not sure how many minutes [Nketiah will play against Salford], but the player will be involved,” Bielsa said.

“All the games that he had in the national teams and with Arsenal too, we watched. I have an idea about his skills and potential. In these two days, we have been working with him. He’s a complex player, because he has a lot of capabilities.

“[Bogusz] will be inside of the group. He has shown his skills. Now he’s very close to the team, but he has to develop a lot of things yet. One thing is to have the capabilities to play in the team, it is another to show this.”

While Bogusz and Nketiah could play a role against Salford City, Luke Ayling and Tyler Roberts continue to be sidelined through injury.
