According to Ben Jacobs on Twitter, Jesse Marsch is still considering USMNT defender Chris Richards, though nothing beyond that yet. Interest from Southampton and Palace plus a number of Spanish clubs also considering a move.

The 22 year old American is on the radar of Leeds coach Jesse Marsch and the big centre back who has long been admired by Marsch, could be open for a potential move to the Premier League.  The versatile defender can play anywhere across the back line including both left and right back, and the Bayern Munich defender could fit in at Leeds and even do a job at left back for The Whites, a position they are short on.

It looked like Leeds would not be in the market for a left back with rumours of Leo Hjelde and even Jack Harrison as being back up for Junior Firpo. Harrison’s preferred position is left wing, but with Luis Sinisterra arriving, it could see Leeds adopt a wing back option with Harrison being utilised there.

Richards has played 35 times in the Bundesliga, and appeared in the Champions League and the Europa League.  He has also been capped for America on 6 occasions, making his debut in November 2020.  He is currently at Bayern Munich but has been on loan at TSG Hoffenheim.  He is currently valued on Transfermarkt at £6.75m.  It makes sense to use him at left back if Leeds do bring him in, but if he is looking to play at his natural centre back position, he is going to be behind Diego Llorente, Pascal Struijk, Liam Cooper and Robin Koch in the pecking order.

However, it is more positive signs from Leeds in the transfer market and they look to be assembling a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.
