Striker Jermaine Beckford has signed a new 3-year contract that will keep him at Elland Road until 2010.

It is some turnaround for Beckford, who was considered a major doubt to remain at Leeds following the clubs relegation from the Championship whilst Scunthorpe, the team that he had spent a loan spell with was promoted into the division from which Leeds had come from, and were very much interested in retaining his services.

On return from the loan spell the talented striker was convinced by Dennis Wise, despite the continued interest from The Iron, that his future did indeed lie at Elland Road, where he has formed a blistering partnership with ex-Barnet forward Tresor Kandol.

The good news just keeps on coming at Leeds United!
