Leeds United returned to form with an emphatic win at Tranmere Rovers thanks to a man of the match performance by Jermaine Beckford.

Leeds made one change from the side that drew 1-1 with Brentford on Saturday

Captain Richard Naylor returned from the thigh injury that caused him to miss Saturday, he replaced Leigh Bromby in the centre of defence.

Leeds had an early chance but Becchio headed with from a corner.

Robert Snodgrass gave Leeds the lead just inside ten minutes, his free kick eluded everyone and found it`s way into the back of the net.

Leeds doubled their lead inside twenty minutes when Jermaine Beckford scored from the penalty spot after a foul on McSheffrey.

Ankergren had to make his first save just inside twenty minutes when Luke O`Neill shot at goal and Ankergren turned it out for a corner.

From the resulting corner, the ball fell to John Welsh who gave Ankergren no chance.

Leeds made it 3-1 just past the half hour after some quality play from Leeds, Beckford`s cross found Becchio and his diving header gave Daniels in the Tranmere goal no chance.

Becchio chanced his arm moments later when he spotted Daniels off his line but his chip went just over the bar.

Beckford was next to have a go, his long range shot going straight at Daniels.

The referee blew for half time shortly afterwards with Leeds looking comfortable.

Tranmere introduced Bas Savage at the start of the second half and he was quickly trying to unsettle the Leeds defence.

Beckford had Leeds first effort of the second half but his shot just drifted wide of the post.

Jermaine Beckford increased Leeds lead with a fantastic individual goal when he coolly lobbed the ball over Daniels.

Beckford had a great chance to get his hat trick after a good move involving Howson and Snodgrass, the ball was played into the middle and found Becchio, he cleverly back heeled the ball to Beckford but he couldn`t get enough power on his shot.

Jermaine Beckford was replaced inside the final ten minutes to a standing ovation from the travelling Leeds fans after an excellent performance by the leading goalscorer.
