Leeds United battled to a 1-1 draw at play-off chasing Cardiff City in their final away game of the season.

Leeds boss Neil Warnock gave a starting place to youngster Zac Thompson following his three-match suspension and he replaced Danny Webber in midfield whilst Alex Bruce replaced the suspended Darren O`Dea in defence.

In a fairly dour game, Leeds had a great chance to open the scoring early on when Ross McCormack headed a Robert Snodgrass corner just wide.

Leeds were dealt a cruel blow just past the half hour when defender Leigh Bromby was stretchered from the field with what looked a series injury when he collapsed in a heap with no player close to him.

Reports after the game are that he has snapped his patella tendon and will be out for a lengthy period.

Cardiff took the lead close to half time when Joe Mason reached a ball over the top and with Leeds goalkeeper Andy Lonergan in no-man`s land; he had the simple task of steering the ball into an unguarded goal.

The home side almost doubled their lead before half time but this time Lonergan made a good save to deny Kenny Miller.

Leeds enjoyed plenty of possession in the second half but lacked a decisive instinct in the final third.

Luciano Becchio and Danny Pugh both failing to hit the target with efforts.

They could have quite easily have been further behind. Mark Hudson headed over from close range and Lonergan produced another good save, this time to deny Andy Taylor.

The save from Taylor was to prove crucial because within minutes Leeds were level. Becchio headed Paul Connolly`s teasing cross in for his eleventh goal of the season.

The draw for Leeds sees them drop one place to thirteenth whilst Cardiff occupy the final play-off place with one game remaining.
