Ken Bates is far from happy after another one of Leeds academy players has been snapped up by a Premiership club.

16 year old Luke Garbutt joined Everton this week despite being offered the chance of a scholarship and professional contract at Elland Road.

Garbutt is a product of the Leeds United academy and is the third player in recent years to be to snapped up by Premiership clubs after Martin Woods and Tom Taiwo joined Chelsea in 2006.

Taiwo has recently signed for Carlisle on a season long loan and could line up against United this season.

Chelsea also tried to snap up Danny Rose who at the time who decided to stay at Elland Road.

Leeds eventually won compensation for Woods and Taiwo from Chelsea totalling £5 million.

Speaking on Yorkshire Radio Bates said, ‘We’re chasing matter with the Football League and the Premier League and we’re seeking substantial compensation.”
