Leeds United chairman Ken Bates says the club is just three games away from promotion. But, I’m sure, they are not the three games he wanted.

Sheffield United have opened up a nine-point gap over Leeds, who secured their place in the play offs with the draw against Plymouth on Saturday. And those three games will now be … in the play-offs.

Bates: ‘Every team has a bad run. Kevin Blackwell said at the start of the season that we were going for qualification in the play-offs and we have achieved that target.

‘We are three games away from the Premiership.

‘We have Sheffield United and Reading over Easter and the best clubs bring the best out of us.’
