Bates Considers Change

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds chairman Ken Bates is willing to listen to the views of fans concerning a change of club badge.

It seems in vogue at the moment. Arsenal did it, and apparently Bates received a letter from a supporter requesting that the club revert to the Yorkshire rose badge worn back in the late ’80s and early ’90s.

But these days many companies are jumping on the brand name band wagon and sponsoring everything from stands to football grounds. How can we forget York City’s Kit Kat Ground? And I’m sure it is only a matter of time before a club badge becomes a company (other than football) trademark.

The current badge was introduced in 1998 but Leeds have traditionally changed badges over the years.

Should the club change it? Please vote in our poll.
