A few Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media after Patrick Bamford claimed it was ‘pretty special’ to come from behind to beat Millwall.
Marcelo Bielsa saw the Whites fall behind to Gary Rowett’s Lions inside the fourth minute on Tuesday night, before Jed Wallace doubled the visitor’s lead after Ezgjan Alioski brought Jon Dadi Bodvarsson down inside the box.
The shockwaves which reverberated around Elland Road must have hit the dressing room hard, as the team came back out from the break revitalised and soon had a foothold in proceedings when Bamford struck his 11th goal of the league season.
We were then level by the 62nd-minute when Pablo Hernandez’s deflected effort found the net, and ahead in the 66th through Bamford again before Millwall had a chance to compose themselves.
Speaking after the game to the club’s official website, Bamford stated the importance of being able to come from behind to win, and noted how the first-team refused to believe they would lose.
“We never gave up, even when we were two-nil down, we were the better team,” the 26-year-old said. “We knew if we kept going and managed to get the first goal in the second half we’d win. We didn’t panic, we know how good we can be, and we’ve come back from those situations before.
Did you believe we would win at half-time?
“Whilst we were dominating the game, we knew to stick with it, try [to] get a goal back and we’ll win the game. It’s nice to score and I’m very happy, to come back from two-nil down is pretty special. We’ve shown we can do that quite a lot and it’s a good three points.”
Beating Millwall whilst West Bromwich Albion lost at Cardiff City meant the Whites are now back atop the Championship standings and are four points clear of third-placed Nottingham Forest.
Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Bamford’s comments…

21 goals in 50 games. We can complain ( and I do) but the data doesn’t lie. He’s heading toward a 1 goal every 2 games striker. I know that stat is not the full picture but it’s a metric of comparison. So well done PB.

PB is a player you never fully appreciate until he misses a game, vital if we’re gonna get promoted.

In other Leeds United news, a rarely seen player has been offered a chance to leave Elland Road and join a Europa League outfit.
