Lots of Leeds United fans have been reacting on social media after Jean-Kevin Augustin discussed his excitement at joining the club on loan from RB Leipzig.

Augustin was unveiled as Marcelo Bielsa’s latest recruit on Monday, with the club announcing that the Frenchman would be joining our promotion bid for the remainder of the season after his spell with AS Monaco was cut short.

United also declared that we have an option to buy the 22-year-old in the summer, which is reportedly worth around £15million, and would see the former Paris Saint-Germain forward’s name go alongside Helder Costa and potentially Jack Harrison’s as permanent Whites men.

Can Augustin disrupt Bamford's stay as our leading striker?

A move to Elland Road does represent a step down in competition for Augustin, having played in the French and German top-flights for PSG, Leipzig and Monaco, though his spell in the Principality was far from as fruitful as he would have liked with just one goal in 13 appearances in all competitions.

But dropping down to the Championship was seemingly not a huge concern for the 5 ft 9 attacker, as Augustin has been discussing his excitement at joining our quest for Premier League football with the club’s official website.

“First of all for the coach and it’s a historical club in England,” Augustin said, when asked why he joined the Whites. “It has a big objective this season to go back to the Premier League. I know it has been 16-years since they were in the Premier League, so of course, the project already excited me.”

His comments have come across to be rather inspiring for some of the fanbase, who have professed their love for Augustin already despite the striker not yet playing a single second of football in West Yorkshire.

Here are a few of the messages shared as fans reacted to Augustin’s remark…
