With plenty of positives for Leeds United to take from Sunday’s clash with Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium, there was one player who disappointed a number of fans and Ezgkan Alioski continues to split the opinions of people.
With a number of strong performances on the day, as we took a 2-1 victory with goals coming from Pablo Hernandez and Kemar Roofe to return to the top of the Championship table, Alioski’s preference for taking a man on an gambling on getting ahead of his marker stood out once again for some fans on social media.
Alioski is so frustrating, wish he would just try passing sometimes #lufc

@PhilHayYEP #lufc #LeedsUtd Totally amazed that Alioski got 6 out of 10. I think a one would be generous. Why is he still in this team https://t.co/reU60kecdk

a good win despite Alioski, who made the wrong decision at every conceivable juncture #LUFC

Can not stand Alioski… Why so many touches ???? #LUFC

Alioski is the worst, hates passing in some bizarre attempt to take on 4 players #LUFC

I don’t care how good Alioski and Hernandez are; they’re both a disgrace as to how theatrical and pathetic they are on the pitch. No need to constantly roll around on the smallest of touches. #LUFC #WAFCvLUFC

Alioski would be such a good player if no opposition players were allowed on the pitch, offside didn't exist and the pitch was 4x as big #lufc

I like the runs that Alioski makes….the ones where at no point is he onside #lufc

Some will think the comments expressed above are fair game, others will no doubt disagree and feel that given the type of player the 26-year-old is, he’s an easy scapegoat at points. Whoscored had his pass accuracy from the game at 77.8% but it was a quieter game from him as e only had 39 touches.
An almost ever-present under manager Marcelo Bielsa, he’s obviously happy enough with what Alioski brings to the table.
