Leeds United had the opportunity to restore a significant advantage in the chase for automatic promotion from the Championship this evening as we welcomed Sheffield Wednesday and Steve Bruce to Elland Road.
Sheffield United made it back to back draws to join us on 79 points ahead of our later kickoff, so it was all to play for and I doubt the importance of victory was lost on anyone, let alone manager Marcelo Bielsa.
It was a typical Leeds performance once again as we dominated the telling statistics in the match and with a whopping 25 efforts at goal, disappointingly only six were on target as we went into the final five minutes of the game with a narrow 1-0 advantage courtesy of Jack Harrison’s 65th minute opener.
With Wednesday hardly creating chances of their own though, we kept the clean sheet and took a significant advantage over the Blades when it came to second spot and the table looks far prettier again now.
