Leeds United midfielder Shaun Derry is not the ‘mole’ who leaked the team before Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Crystal Palace according to his agent Phil Smith.

Rumours were abound after the game that Derry, who is a former Palace player was the ‘mole/traitor/insert other dramatic words here’ who gave a Palace player the low-down on the team. Derry didn’t play in the match, having suffered an Achilles injury before the game.

Agent Smith said: “Shaun went to Palace`s hotel the night before the game to see old friends and attended the game.

‘But people have wrongly assumed he is to blame because he used to play for Crystal Palace.

“We have had no contact from Dennis Wise and Leeds whatsoever.

“It would be best for Leeds to make it clear who the player is, then these rumours can stop.”

I dare say going to the Palace hotel isn’t going to particularly help his cause. Sources are saying there is discontent in the team as players are starting to worry (as is this case) that they could be wrongly accused of being the one whodunit.
