Advantage Leeds As Woeful Derby Fail To Get A Shot On Target – Match Stats

|

After a long and difficult season for Leeds United, late disappointment at missing out on the automatic Championship promotion spots had to be put behind us as we prepared to face off against Derby County earlier today in the Play-Off Semi-Final first leg at Pride Park.

With a place at the Wembley based Final at stake, after Spygate and the wibblings of Frank Lampard, the game certainly had extra spice riding on it. Pontus Jansson did miss out though and I’m sure #wheresthewheelchair was trending for a bit pre-game.

Derby started slightly brighter in fairness, but once we got into our groove we dominated in our more usual fashion and although clear cut efforts on target were again rare, Kemar Roofe made his count in the 55th minute to give us the 1-0 advantage. We do now await the severity for Adam Forshaw as we sustain yet another injury in 2018/19.

Derby had a good shout for a penalty late on in the game but the assistant referee convinced Craig Pawson it should be a freekick to us and that was the game.

How Derby are in the Play-Offs is a mystery to me, 95 odd minutes and they didn’t register a single shot on goal.

1-0 and onto the home leg, poor Frank Lampard will be looking for excuses again.
