“Absolutely Brilliant” – Pundit Believes Leeds’ Recent Improvements Are Making This Man’s Life Easy

|

Leeds United temporarily returned to the top of the Championship table following Saturday’s 2-0 victory over Queens Park Rangers and as we go into a new week, it’s only goal difference that sees us slip to second place.

Former player and now pundit, Noel Whelan, has been raving about our defensive improvements this year, as 15 games in, we’ve now scored 19 (and that should certainly be higher with our chance creation), but we have only conceded eight goals – the lowest in the division with every other side in double figures.

Speaking following the QPR clash to BBC Radio Leeds, whilst he naturally has issues with ongoing inability to convert far more of the chances that we create in games, he couldn’t have praised our defensive improvements any higher.

“The defensive side of our game is absolutely brilliant at the moment. That intensity and controlled aggression, that high press, the trigger when everybody goes. They’ve got to work really hard to get a goal against us. Kiko Casilla must be so thankful about the hard work that has been put in, White and Cooper have dominated Hugill and Nakhi Wells. Long may that continue. I love to see that happen.”

Although there’s now a doubt about goalkeeper Kiko Casilla’s run of games given the Jonathan Leko claims after the Charlton clash, with how well on loan Ben White has performed and teamed up with Liam Cooper, it’s probably little surprise that we’ve seen fewer rushes of blood from the Spaniard.
