With so much talk about who Leeds are bringing in and letting go of in midfield and attack, not a lot of noise has occurred when it comes to the defence.
Until now that is. Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law is reporting that Fulham are interested in signing Leeds United’s dominating central defender Pontus Jansson.
Jansson played in 39 of their games last year as the team finished third in the table. However, he didn’t play a minute of the two play-off semi-finals as Leeds fell short of promotion by being knocked out 4-3 on aggregate by Derby County. You can’t help but feel that his presence could have made a difference during that second leg at Elland Road.
You’d think after the furore that came about the last time Fulham and Leeds did business, when the London side swooped for Ross McCormack and Matt Smith in the same transfer window, that Leeds would be put off the prospect of selling to Scott Parker’s side.
That’s why a number of Leeds fans were quick to laugh off the prospect of selling yet another player to the recently relegated side. With some deciding to use the opportunity to take a shot at Fulham, rather than just ridicule the rumour.
I’m very keen on signing ronaldo, but it’s not gunna happen.
