Leeds United have been linked with a move for Manchester City’s Angus Gunn. The Englishman goalie impressed while on loan at Norwich City last season, and he could prove to be an upgrade on Felix Wiedwald.

According to the Yorkshire Post,  Leeds United have been linked with a potential loan move for the Citizens goalkeeper.  During his first full season of competitive action, Gunn attained a staggering 51 appearances for the Canaries.  At the age of 22, it is likely that the English goalkeeper will continue to improve and prosper, and he could prove to be an astute acquisition for the Whites.

One of Gunn’s particular strengths is his ability to save efforts from close-range, yet his ability to play long balls requires more significant improvement.

The young goalie could provide Leeds with the fresh impetus that they so desperately need.  The Whites’ defensive insecurities have been well-publicised; Leeds conceded a dismal total of 64 goals in the Championship.

Moreover, if Gunn’s prospective spell at Leeds United is a success, then the Yorkshire club could potentially convince the goalkeeper to become their new permanent shot-stopper. This point would be especially pertinent if Leeds fulfil their aspirations of attaining promotion to the top-flight of English football.

A key to any side’s success is a sturdy defence and a proficient goalkeeper, it’s vital that teams do the basics well, and Leeds need to refine the quality of their defensive unit.  The potential signing of Angus Gunn could be of tremendous significance to Leeds.
