A Disappointing Day For Leeds But Not A Disappointing Man Of The Match

Leeds United welcomed back former gaffer Garry Monk to Elland Road at the weekend, but unfortunately, as Sod’s Law would have it, Birmingham City travelled back to the Midlands with all three points.

Leeds dominated possession and chances on the day, but Birmingham were organised in defence and despite our control of the ball we just couldn’t find a way through to the equaliser.

Ezgjan Alioski gave us hope with five minutes remaining in regulation time but it wasn’t to be and our unbeaten record comes to an end.

You don’t need statistics website WhoScored to tell you the story of the match if you didn’t see it, we just weren’t clinical enough on the day.

Whilst Birmingham’s better ratings come generally in defence, ours are split and although we didn’t reach some of their heights, that is reflected in some ways by our failure to come out of the game with even a point to show for our efforts.

Ezgjan Alioski with a rating of 7.72 stands out, but amongst our better performers were Liam Cooper, Pontus Jansson and Stuart Dallas – with Tyler Roberts completing the top five.

There are positives to take from the game though and it’s certainly not doom and gloom following our first league defeat of the season, but it’s all about the reaction now.
