Long-serving defender Gary Kelly celebrated his 500th appearance for Leeds when the beat Luton at Elland Road on Saturday.

More than 14 years on from making his debut as a 17-year-old the Irishman is still hanging onto the right-back spot.

He become only the 10th Leeds player in history to reach the landmark.

Kevin Blackwell: ‘He showed what a positive career he has had. With some of the stuff he showed today, you would look at him and say that’s a lad who has played 500 games.

‘He knew when to do it and where to do it, and today everything came off for him.

‘It was a polished display from Gary Kelly – but it has been for quite some time.’
