49ers need to break their silence

|

The 49ers have gradually increased their stake in Leeds United with a view to purchasing the club from Andrea Radrizzani but the group have remained tight-lipped, and now the fans are expecting an update. As per LeedsLive.

The last time anyone heard anything from the 49ers enterprise was over a year ago on November the 5th when their stake was increased from 37 % to 44% and with that jump being made within the space of 10 months, the signs of a full takeover were looking all the more promising, but with no further updates since, the fans are now wondering just what is going on?

There have been rumours that a full takeover would depend on the Whites league status, as a drop to the Championship would drastically decrease the club’s value, whilst others believe the 49ers will gain full control in January 2023. Either way, the fans are being kept in the dark about what is happening with the club. The top boys have been spotted at Elland Road taking in some of the matches and Padraig Marathe has held several interviews but nothing surrounding the club has ever been forthwith in those conversations. If there is nothing of substantial news to talk about then that is fine, but the fans want to know what is happening with regard to the takeover, transfers and the stadium redevelopment which was supposed to commence in 2024.

Just like always, the fans are the last to know and the problem surrounding Leeds United with the ownership model that is has now, is that there is no transparency, and that has left the fans feeling frustrated and disconnected from the club.

As the article states, ‘Seeing 49ers personnel is one thing, but fans deserve to know hard details on where this ship is sailing given how long it’s been since that last tranche of shares was divvied out. Peter Lowy, the lifelong fan and successful businessman, has been on the board for almost 18 months after his investment in Enterprises, but he remains a voice we have not heard from.’

‘After scraping to survival last season and seeing a challenging start to this campaign, the club’s, potential, future owners need to be heard as well as seen. What did they make of last season? Are there any reservations? What are their long-term ambitions for United? How would a takeover be financed?
