4 Shots, 3 Key Passes & 2 Tackles Sees Leeds Man Take MotM In A Game That’ll Be Remembered For Other Reasons

Leeds United welcomed Aston Villa to Elland Road on Sunday for our latest Championship clash and all fans wanted to see what a good result to bring an end to back to back recent defeats.

We got that on the day as we took a point from a 1-1 score, but that’s not what the game will be remembered for.

Mats Klich opened the scoring in a game we dominated, but with Villa assuming we’d put the ball out following a challenge on Jonathan Kodjia by Liam Cooper, we didn’t, and went on to score but the assistant referee failed to flag for an offside.

With tempers fraying, Villa were reduced to ten men for an apparent elbow on Patrick Bamford and as our striker wasn’t actually hit, manager Marcelo Bielsa played the bigger man and instructed the side to let Villa level.

Pontus Jansson didn’t get the message as his passion was on full show for all to see, but it led statistics website Whoscored to give some interesting player ratings.

Each side had five players given plus-seven scores, but Klich took Man of the Match and their star man with a score of 7.69.

Completing the top five on the day were Kalvin Phillips (7.29), Tyler Roberts (7.14), Adam Forshaw (7.12) and Pontus Jansson (7.06).

Onto the next one now as we know promotion remains up for grabs through the Play-Offs.
