Patrick Bamford has had a difficult time in pre-season.

First there was his admission to, let’s just say ‘exaggerating contact’ against Aston Villa in the latter stages of last season, and his feeling of regret over the whole affair. Then he had a bit of a nightmare in Leeds’ friendly against Western Sydney Wanderers, when chance after chance came begging but he just couldn’t find the net.

This has led to some pretty hurtful comments about the 25-year-old, with many fans hoping that he finds himself on the unemployment line, or at the very least sold by the club.

On his return from Australia though, Bamford had nothing but positive things to say about the whole experience, despite what some of the fans might think. The Leeds Twitter account posted a message from the striker, in which he thanked the supporters out in Australia and said how the hard work had to continue now the team was back in England.

And those Leeds fans who are still on his side were quick to jump to his defence, offering messages of support, with many predicting that he’ll come back and get more goals than he did last year.
