It was more of a relief than anything else to get the three points against Bolton today. There was certainly a lot more fighting spirit; something that me and most other fans have been asking for in recent weeks.

Hopefully this can be a springboard for a more positive end to the season then we were expecting. So, what did we learn from the win?

1.We found a partner for Forshaw

Ronaldo Vieira’s season has failed to take off for many reasons, but he gave a performance that should secure his place alongside Adam Forshaw for the rest of the campaign.

There was some misplaced passes in there, and it wasn’t a perfect display by any means, but he was everywhere that we needed him today, putting in tackles, winning headers on occasion, and doing some of the dirty work that has been missing.

2. Ekuban Finds Some Form

It’s been a difficult first season for Caleb. Injuries have curtailed any sort of momentum this campaign, but hopefully he can leave those worries behind him now.

It was a consummate finish to open the scoring, and he could have even had a second. Heckingbottom certainly sees something in the striker with it being the third league start in a row for the player.

3.We need to sign up Pablo fast

Obviously not something that we learned in particular from the match today, but the way he orchestrated our attacks and provided an end product, unlike some of our other players shows how much we rely on him

We had enough chances to be well out of the sight before the end of the match, and the quality of the squad has to be improved, both in defence and attack.

This performance shows we are far away from having a squad to compete at the top end of the Championship, but it at least shows that Hecky may be at last having an impact on the pitch, after some wretched displays in recent weeks. Who was your man of the match? Let me know in the poll.
