Dennis Wise continued to bolster his squad as he added two more players in David Prutton and Andrew Hughes.

Former Nottingham Forest and Rotherham midfielder Prutton had been on trial with the club and featured in the vast majority of pre-season games and following the return of the Football League share has now signed bringing over 300 games of senior experience with him to Elland Road.

Norwich City “utility man” Andy Hughes has joined Prutton at Leeds United, completing his move on Thursday evening having signed a 2 year contract. Hughes has previously played for Oldham, Notts County, Reading and (obviously) Norwich.

With the Canaries picking up Crewe Alex defender Jon Otsemobor during the close season, it appears that Hughes had decided that his future lay elsewhere, despite manager Peter Grant`s reluctance to let him depart: ‘Andy did exceptionally well for us last season. He is a fantastic person who we’re sad to lose,’ Grant told the Norwich City official website.

‘Leeds were able to offer him a longer deal which I didn’t feel able to do.

‘His quality of character shone through last season and it was therefore not right to stand in his way.’

The “old hand” that has decided to stay on at the club is Angolan Rui Marques, who worked his way into the first team plans in January and became a fixture amongst the Leeds back four and had even ignored talk of a new contract as he wished to focus on the Championship relegation battle.
